aUDIOMAPS. (Not songs).
Field recordings, collaged soundscapes.
Filtered, re-sampled, looped, re-configured and re-constructed.
aUDIOMAPS is often collaborative in the recording, remixing and performative stage.
Texts are ‘cut ups’, overheard conversations, ‘found' statements, declarations.
Part manifesto at times.
Loops. Samples. Sequences. A whisper. A sense of place.
Post Industrial Funk.

Making these pieces was spread over a long period of time. Well, for me at least!
July through to October 2023.
It was a reductive process. It started in a very complex and fairly scatter gun fashion.
Honing this down was a significant part of the creative process.
Making both the film and the soundtrack had much more in common with my constructed / deconstructed paintings and drawings.
Full of ‘what ifs’ and ‘maybes’. And plenty of ‘breaking things’ to make them ‘right’.
Storyboarding was minimal, possibly non-existent if I’m being honest.
I think A SAFE PLACE has filtered a number of things over the course of its making.
The 24/7 nature of newsfeeds has permeated much of my creative thinking. I’m addicted…
And specifically I suppose it’s about conflict here, conflict there, global crisis, politics in disarray, strikes, personal health… Yeah, I don’t wish to be overly specific.
This isn’t necessarily an ‘issue based’ piece of work. But…
